Prime accused of Habiganj gang- rape case arrested by RAB

RAB-9 arrested the main accused in the gang-rape case in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district, Chotto Rahman (35) from Shaistaganj Brahmandora area.
On last Friday (February 24) around 12:30 pm, RAB arrested little Rahman from Ahad Mia's residence in Suchiura village of Brahmandora union of Shaestaganj upazila based on a tip-off.
The arrested little Rahman is the son of Md Azdu Mia, a resident of Puraikhala area of Madhavpur upazila. It is known that on August 19 last year, around 7:30 pm on Friday night, the defendants gang-raped the victim in a secluded place on the north-east side of Shahjibazar railway station at Raghundan Hill.
The victim of this incident himself filed a gang rape case against 2 people in Chunarghat police station on September 12 last year. Sensational at that time, this incident caused a storm of nationwide discussion through the media.
In view of this, RAB-9 strengthened its intelligence activities to bring the accused under the law.
A raiding team of RAB-9, CPC-1 Shaestaganj Habiganj camp led by Lt Commander Mohammad Nahid Hasan and ASP Md Ikramul Ahad and ASP Gholam Mohammad arrested the accused little Rahman.
