Under the Government of Bangladesh, OFID and ADB supported Third Urban Management and Infrastructure Improvement (Sector) Project (UGIIP-Three) construction of sanitary land-fill and renovation of existing faecal sludge treatment plant in Netrakona municipality was inaugurated.

Alhaj Nazrul Islam Khan, Mayor of Netrokona Municipality, inaugurated this work in the area. Netrakona Municipality Councilor No. 4 Ferdous Kabir Rumel presided over the opening ceremony, Netrakona Municipality Panel Mayor SM Mohsin Alam, District Freedom Fighters Congress Former Commander Journalist Haider Jahan Chowdhury, Netrakona Chandranath Degree College Former Principal Golam Rasul, Councilor Shamim Reza Khan Saral spoke among others.

These wastes were collected from different areas and dumped at different places in the municipal area. On the one hand, the environment would be polluted, on the other hand, there would be problems in the movement of the citizens. From now on, municipal cleaners will quickly bring the waste from the houses in different areas to the treatment plant through re-cycling to produce bio-fertilizer and diesel from it.

No stench will spread from here, no harm will be done to the environment. On the occasion, he sought the full cooperation of all for the overall development of the municipality.
