Suryamukhi Hysan 33 crop field visits, crop cutting and field day were observed to meet the shortage of edible oil in Kalapara of Patuakhali.

On Friday afternoon organized by BRAC Seed Ad Agro Enterprise, post-processing initiative, adaptation clinic visit, sunflower field visit, crop cutting and field day were held at Suryamukhi Hysan 33 crop sunflower production in Mohipar Moazzempur village of Patuakhali.

Joint Secretary and Director General (Seeds) Seed Division of the Ministry of Agriculture were present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Local farmers of Latifpur. Nur Islam Akon said, I planted hybrid Hysan 33 seeds on 2.5 bigha of land. Good yield. I hope to get 20 to 22 mana seeds. With the oil that I get from the seeds, my family will not have to buy any more oil for a whole year.

Md. Nawamur Nasir said, with funding from BRAC, we have planted 33 seeds of salinity-degrading hybrid Hysan in fallow land. Our land can produce one crop in a year but this time with the help of the first brac I will get about 50 more seeds. I can profit financially by selling it.

According to the sources of agriculture office in Kalapara, 1 thousand 950 hectares of land of this upazila have been cultivated with sunflowers.

According to that, about 1,300 metric tons of oil will be produced. Farmers will sell oil worth Tk 40 crore 95 lakh.
