Plantation programme on recovered riverbank by Bogura Dist Administration

Bogura Sadar Correspondent

Bogura District Administration has undertaken a tree plantation programme on the recovered riverbank.

The program was conducted on Saturday as part of the ongoing efforts to clear government canals, wetlands, and other properties of illegal occupation.

It is learnt that on April 9, an eviction operation was launched at the bank of the river near BCL Glass Factory to remove illegal encroachments. Subsequently, concerns arose locally that a new glass factory might be established at the reclaimed site or that re-encroachment might occur.

In response, Deputy  Commissioner Hosna Afroza conducted an on-site inspection of the reclaimed area’s pillars and boundaries. The administration then completed full demarcation and initiated a tree plantation program to conserve the site.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected an illegally occupied dormitory behind TMSS Hospital. She stated that prior to the operation, TMSS authorities had voluntarily agreed to remove the structure, and the administration’s presence ensured that it had indeed been cleared.

Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza further stated that the illegally occupied playground will be made accessible to the public. In addition, a pond that had been excavated on the occupied site has been reclaimed, and steps are being taken to lease it officially under government supervision.

Bogura Sadar UNO  and surveyors were also present during the inspection.
