Plantation drive in Melandah to protect nature, environment

A plantation drive was organized on Friday in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur district with the aim of conserving nature and protecting environmental balance. Volunteers associated with the social organization, "Amra Bangladesh" (We are Bangladesh), a platform dedicated to protecting nature and building an ideal society, carried out the plantation drive at the Baghadoba Gidda Para Eidgah grounds.
To mark the green initiative, a discussion meeting was held at the venue at 4:00 PM on Friday. The meeting was presided over by former local Union Parishad member, Abdur Rashid.
The environment-centric program saw the participation of various local dignitaries and social workers. Among those present at the event were the President of the Melandah Reporters’ Unity and Daily Ittefaq correspondent Shah Jamal; Faculty Member of the Mymensingh Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Fine Arts Institute Mosharraf Hossain; Joint Secretary of the central committee of the humanitarian organization Omar Pathan; Upazila Committee President Abdul Hakim; General Secretary Abdul Aziz; and organizational advisor Alhaj Kawsar Ahmed, among others.
Speakers at the discussion meeting urged citizens to plant more trees across the upazila to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change, emphasizing that widespread afforestation is essential to secure a healthy ecosystem for future generations.
