Piton Industries, Oman's Star Drones sign MoU for EV bike exports, tech exchange
Bangladeshi green-tech firm Piton Industries Limited has signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Omani enterprise Star Drones (Modern Star Businesses LLC) to export electric motorcycles (EV bikes), facilitate technology exchange, and establish joint investment channels in the Middle East.
The agreement was executed at the lounge of Novo Theatre in Dhaka during the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 in the presence of Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain on Monday.
The MoU was signed by Sheikh Iqbal Zahedi, Managing Director of Piton Industries Limited, and Said Abdul Ghafoor Saif Udeen, Founder and CEO of Modern Star Businesses LLC (Star Drones).
Under the initial phase of the agreement, Bangladesh will supply electric motorcycles to equip the delivery fleet of "Bees," a popular food delivery application operating in Oman. The partnership further includes plans to establish a full-scale assembly line in Oman to cater to the broader Middle Eastern market.
The agreement framework establishes that Oman will acquire EV technical expertise from Bangladesh while pursuing joint reverse-engineering initiatives to enhance technological capabilities for both nations. In addition, Star Drones plans to integrate its proprietary drone delivery technology with Bangladeshi EV bikes to create an advanced, integrated logistics network.
Under the joint venture, capital and drone technologies from Oman will be brought to Bangladesh for large-scale local investment.
Speaking as the chief guest, Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain welcomed the initiative, noting that the MoU represents a tangible outcome of bringing together academia, local entrepreneurs, and international investors under a single platform.
Deputy Head of Mission and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Oman in Bangladesh Fathiya bint Ahmed Al Balushi attended the ceremony as a special guest.
The event was also attended by Ashraful Haque Chowdhury, President of the Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI); Shamsul Alam Liton, Chairman of Piton Industries Limited; Ali Asgar Opu, Deputy Managing Director of Piton Industries Limited; Bassim Allah Bakhsh Ghulam Al-Zadjali, Chief Product Officer of Star Drones; Rozan Daulatzadeh, Executive Assistant at Star Drones; and Mohammad Fauzan Ammar, Mechatronics Engineer at Star Drones.
