The concluding ceremony and certificate distribution of the three-day “Multimedia Journalism Training”, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), was held at Faridganj Press Club auditorium.on Tuesday.

The event was presided over by Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, President of Faridganj Press Club, and moderated by Jahidul Islam Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the club. Setu Kumar Barua, UNO of Faridganj, attended the program as the chief guest.

Among others, speeches were delivered by Jilhaj Uddin Nipun, Training Coordinator of PIB; Mamunur Rashid Pathan, former President of Faridganj Press Club; Md. Mohsin Mia, President of Haimchar Press Club; Nurunnabi Noman, former President of Faridganj Press Club; Md. Mohiuddin, Vice President of Faridganj Press Club; and former General Secretaries Prabir Chakraborty and Nurul Islam Farhad.

Participants Shimul Adhikari, a member of Haimchar Press Club, and Shakhawat Hossain Mintu, a member of Faridganj Press Club, shared their experiences and reflections on the training. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Amanullah Khan Farabi, a member of Faridganj Press Club.

The training, held from July 26 to 28, brought together 35 journalists from Faridganj and Haimchar upazilas. Certificates were awarded to all participants who successfully completed the course.

On the first day, Safat Rahman, Communication Specialist at BRAC, conducted sessions on the fundamentals of multimedia journalism, mobile journalism (MoJo), the use of essential devices and tools, storyboard development, and news planning.

On the second day, Dr. Jamil Khan, Associate Professor at Daffodil International University, provided hands-on training on video shooting, video editing, and visual storytelling techniques.

On the final day, Jilhaj Uddin Nipun, PIB Training Coordinator, conducted sessions on AI-assisted content creation, the effective use of Google AI Studio, and fact-checking techniques.

In their remarks, the speakers emphasized that the scope and challenges of journalism are constantly evolving in the digital era. They noted that skills in multimedia journalism, mobile journalism, video storytelling, the responsible use of artificial intelligence, and fact-checking have become essential for journalists to remain effective and relevant.

Therefore, continuous professional training and adaptation to emerging technologies are indispensable for journalists. The speakers expressed optimism that such initiatives would continue in the future and contribute significantly to the advancement of journalism in Bangladesh.

The program concluded with the chief guest and other distinguished guests presenting certificates to the participants and wishing them success in their professional careers.
