The ruling Awami League leader and Pakundia Upazila Parishad Chairman of Kishoreganj. Rafiqul Islam Renu was sentenced to two years imprisonment by the tribunal for the crime of the Prome Minister 's economic adviser dr. Moshiur Rahman forging Moshiur Rahman's forging signature.

On Wednesday noon , the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka to surrendered at Metropolitan Magistrate Court No-8 and Additional CMM Md. Arfatul Rakib ordered upazila chairman Renu sent to jail.

Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu is absconding, an arrest warrant was issued against him as a convict on January 4 from the tribunal.

According to the complaint, Uttara Bank Limited received a loan of Tk 2 crore 5 lakh from M/s Elite Iron and Steel GP Sheet Limited. Pakundia upazila chairman Renu took Tk 35 lakh from the company by promising to waive this loan.

Then he is the Prime Minister's Finance Advisor. Moshiur Rahman issued a letter to Managing Director (MD) of Uttara Bank to waive the loan on his forged signature. Dr. in the letter. Dr. Moshiur Rahman's place. Moshiur Rahman writes that the MD of Uttara Bank is suspicious. So they sent the letter to the Prime Minister's office for verification. The letter was proved there. Mashiur Rahman did not issue.

A case was filed in Dhaka 's Bangshal Police Station on April 26, 2012 in this incident. On October 6, 2013 Rafiqul Islam Renu and 6 people were accused and filed in the court. The other accused are Messrs. Elite Iron and Steel GP Sheet Limited Director. Mosharraf Hossain, chairman. Ali Hossain, Managing Director Tofazzal Hossain, Director Amjad Hossain and Manowar Hossain.

Being found guilty under Section 468 of the Penal Code in this case, the court sentenced Rafiqul Islam Renu to two years of rigorous imprisonment and 15 days of unpaid imprisonment without paying a fine of Tk 2,000
