A opinion exchange meeting was held in Tarail, Kishoreganj with the aim of increasing public awareness and determining effective measures to prevent various social degradations including increasing drug addiction, gambling, online gambling, family violence, juvenile crime in the society.

The meeting was organized on Tuesday at 11 am at the conference room of Tarail Upazila Parishad by the joint initiative of the Upazila Administration and Tarail Thana Administration.

The speakers at the meeting said that the alarming spread of drugs and online gambling is leading the youth astray and destroying family and social stability.

Emphasis was placed on the coordinated work of the administration, public representatives, political leaders, religious figures, teachers, guardians and media workers to prevent these crimes and social degradation.

Tarail UNO Tanzila Akhtar, Tarail Police Station OC Sheikh Abu Saleh Masud Karim and officials and employees of various government departments were present at the meeting.

Also present were Tarail Upazila BNP President Md. Sarwar Hossain Liton, General Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Tarail Upazila Branch Ameer Maulana Kazi Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, Islami Andolon Bangladesh Tarail Upazila Branch Secretary Hafez Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Saiful Islam, Gana Adhikar Parishad Tarail Upazila Branch President Zakirul Islam Baki, National Citizen Party (NCP) Tarail Upazila Branch Coordinator Mohiuddin Masud and journalists from various print and electronic media.

The meeting called for everyone's collective participation in building a healthy, safe and crime-free society by strengthening awareness activities and building a social movement against drugs, gambling and online gambling.
