One killed, 30 injured in clash over dominance in Kalia

In another incident, Farid Molya (57) was killed and at least 30 others injured in a clash between two rival groups over territorial dominance in Kalia upazila of Narail.
The clash erupted at around 6:30 PM on Friday in Kanchanpur village under Babra-Hachla Union.Farid Molya, from the Aftab Molya group, died later that night while undergoing treatment in Khulna.
Police and local sources said the conflict between the groups led by Milon Molya and Aftab Molya has been ongoing for a long time, with multiple past clashes and legal cases. Tension had been high in the area since Eid day.
On Thursday, a member of the Milon group named Sanoar was allegedly attacked by the Aftab group while returning home from court in Narail.In retaliation, members of the Milon group attacked Aftab Molya’s house on Friday evening near the Kanchanpur Government Primary School.Soon after, both sides engaged in a fierce clash with locally made weapons, during which Farid Molya was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
Kalia Police Station OC Md. Rashidul Islam said, additional police and army forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace. He stated that the situation is now under control and legal action is being taken.
