At least one person was killed and at least 12 injured when a bus collided with a tree in Satkhira. Bus helper Shahadat Hossain was killed. The tree fell into the bus which lost control due to the strong impact. This caused the bus to twist and turn. The accident took place on Thursday at 4:30 in the morning at Circuit House junction in Satkhira town.

The injured have been admitted to various clinics including Satkhira Sadar Hospital, Medical College Hospital. The accident caused an hour-long traffic jam on the Satkhira-Jesore road.

The injured are Alamgir Hossain son of Daud Ali of Mazat village of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira, Abdur Rauf son of Bahar Ali Tarafdar of Joynagar village of the same upazila, Tapan Ghosh son of Tarak Chandra Ghosh of Ramnathpur village of Debhata upazila, Ruhul Amin son of Bahar Ali of Rahimpur village of Bazargram of Kaliganj upazila, Shahinur Rahman son of Ashraf Ali Gazi at Nilakantapur village of the same upazila. Apart from that, the addresses of two people named China and Abdullah are not known.

The first five have been admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital and the last two have been admitted to Satkhira Medical College Hospital. Apart from this, six people have been admitted to different clinics. There were 40 to 45 passengers in the transport.

Satkhira Sadar Hospital emergency department Dr. Ashraful Haque said China and Alamgir have been shifted to Satkhira Medical College Hospital due to critical condition. However, Satkhira police line constable Naib Ali was injured while cutting the tree and harassing the passengers. Helper Shahadat Hossain was killed in this incident.
