Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid has said that the BNP is a pro-farmer government, adding that agriculture has received special priority since the time of the party's founder, Ziaur Rahman. He also noted that the agriculture sector was given priority during the tenure of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The minister made the remarks while visiting ginger cultivation in sacks in the Hossendanga area of Jhilim Union in Chapainawabganj at around 3:30 pm on Thursday.
Responding to a question about the alleged fertilizer shortage, the Agriculture Minister said there was no shortage of fertilizer in the country. Adequate quantities had been allocated, and sufficient stocks were available to meet future demand.
Among those present during the visit were District Council Administrator and former MP Harunur Rashid, District BNP Convener Golam Zakaria, Deputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Md. Musa Jangi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Chapainawabganj Atikul Islam, and officials from various levels of the agriculture, fisheries and livestock departments.
