New Libyan Ambassador in Dhaka calls on Foreign Minister

The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Libya in Bangladesh, Abdulmutalib SM Suliman paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at his office on Thursday upon assumption of his charges in Bangladesh.

During the courtesy call, the Foreign Minister welcomed the new Ambassador. The Foreign Minister referred to the traditional excellent relations between Bangladesh and Libya.

Foreign Minister Momen underlined importance of continued cooperation in different sectors of mutual interest including promotion of trade & investment between the two countries.

He underlined importance of more contacts between the business persons and chamber officials. He suggested collaboration may be forged in garments, pharmaceuticals and IT sectors and Libya may consider importing the products from Bangladesh including jute and other produced gods.

The Libyan Ambassador suggested forming a Joint Commission to look after major areas of cooperation. Both sides agreed to enhance institutional cooperation like holding Foreign Office Consultations and signing agreements.

The Foreign Minister sought Libya’s continued cooperation in Rohingya issue.
