As part of a series of meetings to strengthen security measures on the Dhaka University campus, a meeting was held on Wednesday, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan in the chair .
The meeting was attended by the university's Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, DC of Ramna Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masud Alam, and representatives of law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies.
The meeting discussed the overall security measures on the campus and informed the university administration about the current situation on behalf of the law enforcement agencies.
As part of the security reinforcement, round-the-clock police presence has been ensured in the TSC and VC premises from today. In addition, police patrols will continue with the proctorial team on the main roads of the campus.
Incidentally, on June 16, during the preparations for the Awami League procession in Kataban, the police arrested a person named Md. Tamim (19). He was taken on a one-day remand through the court and has now been sent to jail on the pretext of arrest. It is learned that Tamim is a follower of former commissioner of ward no. 21 Md. Asaduzzaman.
In addition, the university's own investigation committee is working on the incident of finding a cocktail-like object in front of the martyred intellectual Dr. Mohammad Mortaza Medical Center. A general diary (GD) has been filed with Shahbagh police station in connection with the incident of bursting firecrackers in the Raju Sculpture area yesterday. In another separate meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan and DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali discussed the security situation on the campus and took decisions on future steps.
