As part of the preparations for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament Elections-2025, the returning officers held a meeting with the provosts of various halls of the university at 10:30 am on Tuesday, in the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom in the Administrative Building.
The meeting was presided over by Chief Returning Officer and Professor of Botany Department Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin. Also present were Returning Officer Prof Dr. ASM Mohiuddin (Soil, Water and Environment Department), Prof Dr. Golam Rabbani (Social Welfare and Research Institute), Prof Dr. Kazi Mostaq Ghausul Haque (Information Science and Library Management Department), Prof Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam (Shahidul Zahid) (Banking and Insurance Department), Professor Dr. Tariq Manzoor (Bangla Department) and Associate Professor Sharmin Kabir (Education and Research Institute).
The provosts of various halls participated in the meeting and gave their opinions on various issues related to election preparations, administrative cooperation, security arrangements and the voting process. They suggested the things to be done to ensure a fair and peaceful environment for the elections. The returning officers assured to consider their recommendations seriously and take necessary steps.
Meanwhile, as part of the election-related discussions, a two-phased exchange meeting between the returning officers and active student organizations of the university will be held on June 26, 2025. The discussion will focus on the electoral code of conduct, participatory processes, and maintaining a peaceful environment.
Dhaka University authorities are considering the DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections with utmost importance as part of democratic practice. The university administration is committed to ensuring a free, fair and participatory election through regular dialogue with stakeholders.
