Music Department, Theatre and Performance Studies Department, and Film and Media Studies Department of Nazrul University organised a training programme on Outcome -based Curriculum for teachers at the conference room of the Administrative Building on Wednesday.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Soumitra Sekhar, joined the online inaugural session as the chief guest. He mentioned that the educational sector globally is undergoing revolutionary changes in this century. It's essential to synchronize every aspect with the era's advancements. Initially, there might be criticism of any new change, but eventually, everyone gets accustomed to it.

Dr. Sekhar further stated that along with traditional education, fundamental changes have occurred in the current educational system. In this transformed world, skill sets are integrated with knowledge. While being knowledgeable is important, without skill, it lacks value. Emphasizing the significance of outcome-based education, he highlighted how Australia transformed its education system to an outcome-based model around 2000. Following suit, advanced countries like the United States embraced outcome-based programs. Education is now aligning towards outcomes, and the purpose of education is changing continuously. This shift in educational programs globally has significant implications. Therefore, to integrate traditional education with outcome-based education is crucial to navigate these changes.

He expressed the need to create self-reliance through outcome-based education, enabling graduates to be competent in their respective fields, not just academically but also economically in the global market.

Professor Dr. Soumitra Sekhar extended his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the training program and offered advice on making education relevant and outcome-based.

Online, the University's Treasurer, Professor Dr. Ataur Rahman, and Registrar, Agriculturist Dr. M. Humayun Kabir, delivered special speeches.
