
Navy - police operation : Five trawlers seized for cutting bank, stealing mineral sand in Jadukata

Five trawlers were seized by the navy police for cutting the bank (shore) of the border river Jadukata and stealing mineral sand.
Early Saturday morning, a team from the Sunamganj Tukerbazar Navy Police outpost seized those trawlers loaded with stolen mineral sand from the western bank outside the lease area of the mineral sand market in Jadukata, Tahirpur, Ghagtia (Jalor Tek).
A responsible officer from the Navy Police Headquarters Media Cell in Dhaka confirmed this information.
The Media Cell stated that every night and early morning, hundreds of people were cutting the mineral sand-rich bank of the border river Jadukata in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, and stealing mineral sand.
Based on information received from own intelligence sources, on Saturday early morning, the Sunamganj Tukerbazar Navy Police outpost Inspector, along with officers and forces, conducted an operation at Jalor Tek of Ghagtia on the western bank of the leased mineral sand market of Jadukata River.
In this operation, the navy police seized five (steel-bodied) trawlers loaded with mineral sand stolen by cutting the bank of the Jadukata River.
Inspector Dilip Kumar Das of the Sunamganj Tukerbazar Navy Police outpost said the value of the seized stolen sand and five trawlers is about Tk 3,140,000.
