Nature of some people not changed though many sacrificed: Additional IGP Rafiqul
Sohel Rana Babu, Bagerhat
Additional IGP Khondker Rafiqul Islam, head of the Bangladesh Police Anti-Terrorism Unit, said, "There has been such a big revolution, so many people have sacrificed themselves, but the nature of some people has not changed.
When one or two dead bodies fall, a society changes. Society suffers a setback, over a thousand of our fresh lives have been lost. We have probably really forgotten the number. The movement against oppression and injustice that is coming is not to change any regime. This movement has been made to change society and crush inequality. So-and-so is sitting on the chair today, after he leaves, I will sit. Earlier, he used to sit on the chair and take advantage of injustice, now I will take advantage of it.
This movement was not made for that." Many people seem to be getting the wrong message, those who are involved in various misdeeds, should be careful, repent. Those who think that the days have changed, now I will make my pockets heavy. This is a heinous thought, still forget these things, warned this top police officer.
He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the Imam conference titled The Role of Imam Society in Building a Discrimination-Free, Peaceful and Prosperous Bangladesh. The conference was held on Saturday from 11 am at the Bagerhat Alia Madrasa premises for a day.
Three and a half thousand imams from remote areas of all upazilas of the district were present at the meeting held to eliminate discrimination in all matters, including the job stabilization of imam muezzins.
