Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital students and doctors attacked journalists for asking questions at the press conference.
The Dhaka National Hospital authorities have called a press conference on Tuesday (November 26) regarding the death of Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Molla College student Avijit Howlader.
During the press conference, Samakal journalist Imran Hossain said that a doctor at the hospital threatened him yesterday when he wanted to speak for the news. The name of the doctor who threatened him is Imran. He works in the cardiology department of the hospital. The journalist questioned the hospital authorities whether a doctor can threaten a media worker. In addition, Jamunna TV journalist Rabbi asked how Kazi Nazrul and Shaheed Suhrawardy College were involved in the clash between the National Hospital and D. Mahabubur Rahman College.
However, the hospital authorities also ignored his question. After this, all the journalists left the press conference. After this incident, the hospital students and doctors attacked the journalists who were leaving the press conference.
At that time, journalist Imran Hossain of Samakal said, I called to ask for a statement on the dismissal of Dhaka National Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Mahima Akhter Shefa. Later, she hung up the phone without finishing Shefa's statement. After a while, his brother, Dr. Imran of the hospital's cardiology department, called me and threatened me with abusive language. He informed about this incident at a press conference today. After that, after all the journalists protested and left, the hospital students and doctors attacked us. I am shocked to see their behavior.
Newspaper journalist Mujahid Billah, who was present at the press conference said, "calling a press conference and treating journalists in this way is not desirable. If they cannot take questions from journalists at the press conference, then why were journalists requested to come?"
Director of Dhaka National Medical Institute Brigadier General (Retd) Prof Dr. Iffat Ara said in this regard, this is an undesirable incident. We have disciplined those involved . On their behalf, we apologize to your journalists .
