National Fisheries Week ends in C'nawabganj with discussion, award ceremony

The National Fisheries Week 2026 concluded in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday after a series of programs were held across the district.
The closing ceremony was held at 11:00 a.m. at the conference room of the District Commissioner's Office through a discussion meeting and an award-giving ceremony.
Uzzal Kumar Ghosh, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division, addressed the event as the chief guest. The program was chaired by Md. Shahinur Rahman, District Fisheries Officer of Chapainawabganj.
Among the guests who spoke at the meeting were Roop Kumar Barman, District Information Officer; Md. Golam Mostafa, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation; and Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Acting District Cooperative Officer.
Fish farmers Md. Yusuf Ali and Md. Sohel Rana also spoke at the event, sharing their views on the fisheries sector and its development.
Upazila fisheries officers, officials from various government departments, fish farmers, fish traders, wholesalers and fishermen were present at the program.
Following the discussion, prizes were distributed among the winners of a swimming competition organized as part of the fisheries week activities.
Earlier, on August 16, National Fisheries Week 2026 was inaugurated in Chapainawabganj under the slogan, “A Self-Reliant Country Through Silver Fish, Bangladesh First.”
