Muhibbul Islam appointed Chairman of BIWTA

The government has appointed Md. Muhibbul Islam, Additional Secretary, as the new Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) with immediate effect.
According to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday, the officer will serve as Chairman of BIWTA under the Ministry of Shipping.
He served as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Shipping.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nur-E-Alam, stated that the appointment has been made "in the public interest" and will be effective immediately.
BIWTA is responsible for the development, maintenance and regulation of inland waterways and ports across Bangladesh.
