There have been reports of vandalism, looting and violence in various business establishments including vandalism and arson at Babna Point, Pirijpur, Dakshin Surma Police Station, Chandipul Abdus Samad Square in Dakshina Surma from the morning of Sunday, August 5.

During the attacked the business establishment of former Chairman of Barikandi Union Parishad, Habib Hossain, and set fire to the office of MP Habibur Rahman, Awami League leader Kamal Mia's business establishment, Upher Community Center and Elahi CNG and Filling Station, Kushiara CNG and Filling Station, Abdus Samad Azad Chattar. Miscreants vandalized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's inauguration plaque at Khozarkhalast Markakaz Point Kazirbazar Bridge and set fire to tires on Bangbir Road.

According to local sources, miscreants surrounded Dakshin Surma police station in the afternoon. Three miscreants were shot dead by the Police Station. They are Sayek Ahmad (22), son of Zamir Ali of Ahmedpur village of Tetli union of Dakshin Surma police station, and Saqib Khan, son of Abdur Rahman Khan of Dalipara village of Seelam union. Nanu Mia's son Rayyan Ahmed is in serious condition and is undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, there were reports of vandalism in the business establishments of Awami leader Lokman Ahmad in Pirojpurast Lokman Auto Trerdas and Isan Auto Trerdas and vandalism and looting in Chandipust Juba League leader Qari Faisal Alam's business establishments. Miscreants took valuables to his establishment. The director of Elahi CNG and Filling Station said that miscreants vandalizing my business is not desirable in a free country. We are preparing to file a case.

The South Surma Police Station (OC) Yardoush Hasan was not contacted by phone in this regard.
