Shyamnagar (Satkhira) Correspondent
To conserve the environment and combat the effects of climate change by reducing atmospheric carbon emissions, protecting biodiversity, and preserving embankments, a joint tree planting program was held on June 26 on a 1.44-acre char of the Malanch River adjacent to the Sundarbans in Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira.
This initiative was undertaken by leaders and the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). As part of the program, local residents and volunteers planted saplings of various species suited to the char’s environment. The primary goals of this initiative are to prevent river erosion, conserve biodiversity, and maintain the ecological balance of the coastal region.
The program was inaugurated by Mohan Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of leaders. Local representatives, environmental organization members, journalists from the Sundarbans Press Club, teachers, and students also actively participated in the tree planting event.
