A teenager girl was strangled to death by miscreants in Chandina of Cumilla . Police are claiming that the murder took place due to a land dispute.

On Friday night, the killers took him out of the house, hacked him to death and cut his throat. Police recovered the body from the pond the next morning Today morning.
The deceased was identified as Salma Akter, daughter of Soleman Bepari of Basantapur village under Gallai union of Chandina upazila. Salma is the third of 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He used to study at the nearby Billal Bazar Qawmi Madrasa.

According to local sources, Soleman, a cattle trader from Bhuiyapara in Basantapur village, and his nephews have been involved in a long-running dispute over land. On Saturday morning, a girl named Jannat from the same house entered the house after seeing the door and back tin of Soleiman Bepari's house open. Not seeing anyone in the room, Solomon called the dealer. He came home and started looking around without seeing the girl. Later, he saw the floating body of his daughter in a pond 500 yards away from the house and informed the police.

"I have been arguing with my nephews over land for a long time," said Solomon. Last Saturday (September 25) they beat my wife randomly and admitted her to the hospital. When I went home on Friday they tried to attack me. When I left the house around 12:30 pm, they surrounded me with 10-12 people to attack me. Fearing for my life, I left the house and went to Abdur Rahman's house next door. Meanwhile, my daughter Salma was alone in the house. In the dark of night, they took my daughter out of the house, hacked her to death and threw her body into the water.

Chandina Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Arifur Rahman said, "We went to the spot on Saturday morning after receiving the news and recovered the body of the deceased." Initially, it is believed that the killings were caused by a land dispute. I will take legal action subject to investigation.
