Love on Telegram : Keeping religion secret, selling of madrasa student to brothel alleged in Noakhali

A teenage madrasa student (17) from Sadar Upazila of Noakhali has been allegedly lured into a love trap and sold to a brothel in Dhaka's Jatra Bari. The victim madrasa student is a resident of Noannai Union of the upazila and was a HSC candidate from the local Fazil Madrasa this year.
The matter was confirmed by Sudharam Police Station OC Kamrul Islam on Sunday (June 22) at around 10:30 am. Earlier, on May 7, the alleged cheating lover lured the victim from the district town of Maijdi and engaged her. Accused Shuvo Jit Mondal (19) is the son of Shankar Mondal of Badartala village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district.
According to police and the victim's family, the victim worked in a local madrasa along with her studies. A few months ago, a young man named Shuvo Jit Mondal from Satkhira first met the girl on Facebook Messenger. After that, Shuvo Mondal hid his religious identity and started a love relationship with the girl by chatting on Telegram. Later, he lured the girl from the district town of Maijdi to Dhaka on May 7, promising to marry her. There, he forcibly raped the girl. At one stage, he sold her to a brothel. The victim girl informed her family about the matter from the number of another girl there. On the afternoon of June 15, family members rescued her from a house in the Jurain area of Jatra Bari, Dhaka, with the help of a social volunteer organization. The abused girl is currently undergoing treatment at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital.
Sudharam Police Station OC Kamrul Islam said that the victim works alongside her studies. She had a love affair with a boy on Telegram. After the love affair, the victim left Noakhali with the boy. Later, the victim was raped. The victim alleged that her boyfriend then gave her to one of his friends, who then gave her to a brothel. However, the victim does not know the place. A case is being registered in this incident. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.
