Journalists' Unity Council meeting held in Jaldhaka

An important view exchange meeting was held at  initiative of the Journalists' Unity Council in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari, with the determination to uphold truth, justice, objectivity and professional dignity.


The meeting was held at 4 pm on Saturday  in the hall of Jaldhaka Model Government Pilot High School. The program was presided over by Alhaj Kamaruzzaman, president of Jaldhaka Press Club and district correspondent of Dainik Sangram. 

The moderator was Asaduzzaman Sumon, president of Jaldhaka Reporters Unity and upazila correspondent of Dainik Manabkanth. At the beginning of the meeting, Mahamudul Hasan, district correspondent of Teesta News 24, recited the Holy Quran.

 Present at the meeting were former president of Jaldhaka Press Club and district representative of SA TV, Mahbubar Rahman Moni, former secretary Shafiqul Islam, vice-presidents Mahadi Hasan Manik and Moniruzzaman Lebu, deputy general secretary and upazila representative of Daily Juger Alo Maidul Hasan, upazila representative of Daily Jugantor Shafiqul Islam Chinu, Treasurer of the press club and correspondent of Daily Dabanol Sarwar Hossain Badsha, president of the Journalists Association Rabiul Islam Raj, secretary Riyad Islam, general secretary of Reporters Unity Harun-or-Rashid, vice-president Abul Kalam Azad (Sumon), president of Bangladesh Press Club Jaldhaka Golam Rabbani Dollar and general secretary Sujan Islam, among others.

The goals and objectives of the constitution of the Journalists' Unity Council, especially various aspects of Article-11, were discussed in the exchange of views. Mahamudul Hasan read the relevant part of the constitution. At this time, Mahbubar Rahman Moni, Member Secretary of the Journalists' Unity Council, said in his speech that to make the organization more effective and strong, the prescribed form must be filled in to become a member of the reconstituted sub-committee.

 The journalists present agreed on this. He further said that journalists should work unitedly while maintaining impartiality, professionalism and mutual goodwill. Emphasis will be placed on protecting the dignity of the journalistic community and taking a united stand against any injustice.


In his speech, Alhaj Kamaruzzaman, convener of the Journalists' Unity Council, said that there should be an environment of unity and cooperation among journalists in Dhaka, not division. If a journalist is subjected to unfair harassment or bullying while performing his professional duties, all members of the Journalists' Unity Council, including the president and general secretary, will stand unitedly by his side, God willing.
