Joint raid by Coast Guard, Police : Local, foreign firearms, ammunition, drugs seized, one abducted man rescued in Teknaf

A joint operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Police led to the seizure of a large number of local and foreign firearms, live ammunition, and drugs. Besides , one abducted person was rescued on Saturday in Teknaf

Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid, media officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, informed this through a press release on Saturday morning.

According to the press release, based on secret information, it was learned that a group of armed robbers was staying in the hills near Jadimura under Teknaf police station with a large cache of weapons. Acting on this information, at 11:30 PM on Saturday night, a joint operation was conducted in the area by Coast Guard Station Teknaf and the police.

During the raid, members of the robbery gang, sensing the presence of the joint force, started indiscriminate firing. At that time, the joint forces fired blank shots in self-defense, prompting the robbers to flee into the deep hills. Later, a search operation in one of the hideouts in the hills led to the recovery of: 1 foreign G-3 rifle,1 foreign 9mm pistol,1 foreign 7.65mm pistol,3 single-barrel local firearms,3,100 rifle bullets,14 rounds of pistol ammunition,1 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) worth 5,036,000 BDT,4 liters of local liquor,and the rescue of one abducted person.

As the robbers fled, no arrests were made during the operation.

Legal procedures are underway to take action regarding the seized weapons, ammunition, and drugs, and arrangements are being made to return the rescued person to their family.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has maintained 24-hour patrols to stabilize the law and order situation in the country. As a result, law and order and robbery control in coastal and riverbank areas under the Coast Guard’s jurisdiction have improved significantly. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent illegal arms smuggling and robbery.
