
Japanese Ambassador visits Rohingya camps, promises to continued humanitarian support

Japan's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Saida Shinichi, visited the health service center operated by the Dhaka Community Hospital Trust in the 14th Refugee Camp at Hakimpur, Ukhiya, in Cox's Bazar on Thursday afternoon.
During the visit, Ambassador Saida Shinichi emphasized that Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts and stand by Bangladesh in resolving the Rohingya crisis. Since the beginning of the crisis, Japan has been providing humanitarian assistance to the Rohingya people.
In a meeting with the doctors and officials at the health service center, the Ambassador stressed the importance of ensuring the best possible healthcare for the Rohingya refugees. He also thanked the government and people of Bangladesh for sheltering over one million Rohingya refugees.
During the visit, the Ambassador also interacted with the refugees, inquiring about their living conditions.
Present at the event were the First Secretary and Head of Economic Cooperation Section at the Japanese Embassy, Karasawa Shinju, Executive Director of the Community Initiative Society, Md. Golam Mostafa, Executive Member Dr. Omar Sharif Ibn Hasan, Program Coordinator Hasi Chakma, Sadia Samad, Shahadat Hossain, and Dr. Md. Nazmul, among others.
According to the Dhaka Community Hospital Trust, with the support of the Japanese Embassy and Japan Platform, the Dhaka Community Hospital Trust and the Community Initiative Society have been providing essential healthcare services, maternal and child healthcare, nutritious food packets, and public health campaigns to the Rohingya people since 2017. To date, the center has provided healthcare to over 700,000 Rohingya and local people.
