
Jamaat holds protest march, rally in Kotalipara

As part of its centrally announced program to press home a five-point demand, Jamaat-e-Islami organized a protest march and rally in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj on Friday.
The protest march, organized by Kotalipara upazila Jamaat, started at 10 a.m. from in front of the West Para Model Mosque. It paraded through the main roads of the upazila and ended with a rally at the Poura Market Bridge.
The rally was presided over by Kotalipara upazila Jamaat chief Solaiman Biswas. Gopalganj district Jamaat chief and party candidate for the Gopalganj-3 (Kotalipara–Tungipara) constituency, Professor Rezaul Karim, addressed the rally as chief guest.
Among others, upazila Jamaat’s Naib-e-Ameer Sekendar Ali, Secretary Maulana Farid Uddin Masud, Poura unit president Akhtar Dariya, and senior leaders spoke at the program.
Speakers highlighted Jamaat’s five-point demands, which include holding the next general election in February on the basis of the July national charter, introducing the proportional representation (PR) system in both houses of parliament, ensuring a level playing field for all to make the election free, fair and acceptable, bringing to justice all visible oppression, killings, and corruption committed by the fascist regime.and banning the activities of Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance, termed as allies of autocracy.
