
IU students hold rally to welcome Ramadan

General students organized a colourful rally to welcome the holy month ‘Ramadan’ at Islamic University in Kushtia on Friday.
The rally started from the central mosque after Jumuah prayers and it moved through important roads at the university and ended at the same place with a short gathering.
The event was hosted by Sazzad Sabbir, a student from the Accounting Department. Many student leaders attended including Mahmudul Hasan (President of Jamiat Talaba-e-Arabia IU unit), Hafiz M Abu Musa (Central cultural secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir), M Ismail Hossain Rahat (General secretary of Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh IU unit) and Mahmudul Hasan (President of Islami Chhatra Shibir IU unit).
Shamim Hossain, general secretary of Jamiat Talaba-e-Arabia IU unit said, “This rally is to show our love and respect for Ramadan. We want the world to know how special this month is for us. Our university follows Islamic values and we will help promote them. We ask the university to keep shops closed during fasting hours and to stop any bad activities on campus.”
M Ismail Hossain Rahat, general secretary of Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh IU unit said, "Ramadan is a time of unity and strength for Muslims. But the food in our resident halls needs improvement. We ask the university to provide better meals and make special arrangements for non-Muslim students. Also— any bad activities must be stopped immediately.”
Hafiz M Abu Musa, Central Cultural secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir said, “Ramadan is for fasting and devotion but some businesses unfairly raise prices.
