International Women's Day was celebrated with due dignity in Kapasia, Gazipur. On this occasion, a colourful procession and discussion meeting were held at the Upazila Parishad premises on Saturday afternoon.

Keeping in mind the theme of "Rights, Equality, Empowerment, Development of Women and Children", Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dr. Tamanna Tasneem was the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized by the Kapasia Upazila Administration and the Upazila Women's Affairs Officer's Office using modern information technology.

Chaired by Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Fatema Tuz Johra and moderated by BRDB Officer Dilara Akhter Monir, Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Md. Nurul Amin, former Chairman of Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of Kapasia Upazila BNP, freedom fighter Alhaj Khandaker Azizur Rahman Pera, President of Kapasia Press Club FM Kamal Hossain, President of Gazipur District Women's Party Jannatul Ferdousi, Sub-Inspector of Police Md. Abdul Halim, President of Upazila Women's Party Shahnaz Parveen Shikha, General Secretary Sharmin Sultana, Women's Party Leader Arjoda Begum, Upazila Assistant Education Officer Md. Ariful Islam, General Secretary of Durgapur Union BNP Masum Sarkar and others spoke at the discussion held.

The speakers said that they should be aware of women's rights in all fields. If a woman has faith, confidence and determination, she can achieve success in all fields. In the modern world, women have achieved great success in the workplace. Everyone should show responsibility in their position. Only by striving to fulfill their responsibilities can they succeed in realizing their rights.

Before the discussion meeting, a colourful procession was taken out in the upazila premises with the participation of the Upazila Women's Affairs Officer's office and guests invited under the banner of the Upazila Women's Party. The participants, wearing caps, festoons and colorful outfits, paraded around the council premises chanting slogans such as "May the International Women's Day be successful and fruitful."
