Gafargaon (Mymensingh) Correspondent

Dhaka-Mymensingh rail service has resumed after 1.5 hours after the engine of a Dewanganj-bound commuter train departing from Dhaka caught fire.

On Saturday, Dhaka-Mymensingh rail service resumed at around 11 am.

Earlier, a fire broke out in the Dewanganj commuter train engine at Dhala station area of Trishal, Mymensingh at around 9:15 am. Golam Kibria, in-charge of Gafargaon Railway Outpost, said that the engine of the Dewanganj-bound commuter train departing from Dhaka caught fire and a lot of smoke started coming out in the Dhala station area. After the fire and smoke were brought under control, the train's engine broke down. As a result, the Dhaka-Mymensingh line was temporarily closed. In this, Teesta Express bound for Dewanganj is stuck at Gafargaon station, Brahmaputra Express bound for Dhaka is stuck at Aulia Nagar station.

As a result, train passengers are facing extreme suffering. Later, when the engine of Brahmaputra Express train sitting in Aulia Nagar brings the train to Aulia Nagar loop line, Dhaka-Mymensingh rail connection becomes normal. When the relief engine arrives from Mymensingh, the train will leave for Dewanganj.
