A view exchange meeting was held with journalists on the occasion of the typhoid vaccination campaign 2025 in Khagrachhari, organized by the District Information Office and initiated by the Health Department at the conference room of the District Civil Surgeon's Office at 10:30 am on Wednesday.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Chaber Hossain was present as the chief guest at the event. He said, "Typhoid is a preventable bacterial disease, which spreads due to lack of safe water and food habits. This vaccination program is very important to protect the vulnerable population of the hilly region."
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ferdousi Begum, Assistant Director of the Department of Mass Communication Nasia Jahan Barsha, District Information Officer Md. Belayet, General Secretary of the District Press Club HM Prafulla, President of the Journalists Union Shahriar Yunus and various senior journalists of the district were present as special guests.
The speakers highlighted the importance of the campaign and said that children and adolescents aged 9 months to 15 years in the district will be given typhoid vaccination. For this purpose, training of health workers, establishment of vaccination centers and public awareness raising activities have already started.
During the question and answer session of the journalists, officials of the Health Department gave a detailed explanation about the campaign schedule, vaccine safety, side effects and vaccination method. They sought the cooperation of the media so that the information reaches the people correctly and encourages participation.
It is to be noted that the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025 will start simultaneously in all the upazilas and union levels of the district from next month. The Health Department hopes that the active role of the media will play an important role in making this initiative a success.
