
Elderly man dies of heat stroke while working in field in Thakurgaon

An elderly man named Umer Ali (55) died of heat stroke while working in a crop field in the scorching sun. The matter was confirmed by Dr. Ahaduzzaman Sajib, resident physician of Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex.
The incident happend on Thursday afternoon in Jhaljhali village of Bhanor union in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon. The deceased Umer Ali is the son of the late Parab Ali of the area.
Relatives and locals said that in the afternoon, elderly Umer Ali was preparing the land with a spade to plant potatoes on a two-hundred-acre plot next to his house. He suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the ground, dying on the spot. The family is in mourning after this incident.
In this regard, Dr. Ahaduzzaman Sajib, resident physician of Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex, said, "It has been raining heavily for a few days. If you have to work in the field in the harsh sun from morning to 4 pm, you should keep an umbrella over your head. He advised keeping cold water and saline with you. He also advised that if your body cannot tolerate it, work in the field from late afternoon to evening."
