Independence, National Day celebrated in Rangpur

Independence and National Day was celebrated with due dignity in Rangpur on Wednesday.

On the occasion of the day, the day was inaugurated by firing thirty-one cannons at the Rangpur Police Lines ground on the morning of March 26. As the sun rose, Divisional Commissioner and Administrator of Rangpur City Corporation Shahidu Islam placed a wreath at the Rangpur Central Shaheed Minar.

Then, DIG of Rangpur Range of Police Aminul Islam, Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Majid Ali, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, Superintendent of Police Abu Saim, Commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad, Commander of Rapid Action Battalion, various government departments, political organizations, social organizations, professional organizations and people from different classes and professions paid tribute to the martyred freedom fighters by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar on the occasion of the great independence and national day.
A student rally and parade were held at Rangpur Stadium in the morning on the occasion of the great independence and national day. The Divisional Commissioner of Rangpur was the chief guest at the rally and parade. Rangpur Metropolitan Police, District Police, Ansar and Village Defense Force, Fire Service and Civil Defense and various educational institutions of Rangpur district participated in the parade.

On this occasion, Rangpur Begum Rokeya University celebrated the great Independence and National Day with due dignity. On the occasion of the day, the independence procession was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali, from the south gate of the administrative building in the morning. The procession started from the south gate of the administrative building, went around Shaheed Abu Sayeed Square, circled the main roads of the campus and ended in front of the Independence Memorial. Teachers, students, officers and employees of various departments, offices, residential halls, institutes of the university participated in it.

Later, the Vice-Chancellor paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the great liberation war at the Independence Memorial. On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting was organized in the virtual classroom of Academic Building-2 in the morning. Vice-Chancellor Professor Shawkat Ali was the chief guest at the discussion meeting.
