Inauguration ceremony of Journalist Unity Council held at Jaldhaka

The inauguration ceremony of the Journalist Unity Council Jaldhaka-2026 was held in a colourful manner in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari.
The ceremony was organized on Saturday (September 5) evening at the hall of the Jaldhaka Government Model Pilot High School. The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Journalist Unity Council Jaldhaka, Alhaj Kamruzzaman, and the General Secretary of the Journalist Unity Council, Mahabubur Rahman Moni.
The chief guest at the ceremony was Maulana Obaidullah Salafi, Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-3 (Jaldhaka) constituency, who joined the ceremony via video call. The invited guests were Manjurul Alam Siam, President of Nilphamari Press Club, Hasan Rabbi Pradhan, General Secretary of Nilphamari Press Club, Milladur Rahman Mamun, Advisor of Journalist Unity Council Dr. Mesbahur Rahman Mezbah, Headmaster of Jaldhaka Government Model Pilot High School Aminur Rahman B.Sc, President of Reporters Unity Rasheduzzaman Sumon, President of Bangladesh Press Club Jaldhaka Golam Rabbani Dollar, President of Bangladesh Journalists Union Jaldhaka Mahmud Al Hasan, President of National Journalists Association Rabiul Islam Raj and leaders of various journalist organizations were present.
At the beginning of the program, the guests were greeted with flowers. Later, the guests exchanged greetings with the members of the newly formed committee. The speakers said that journalists are the mirror of society. In addition to portraying the problems, possibilities, irregularities, corruption and public suffering of the area, it is also the social responsibility of journalists to stand by the helpless people. However, objectivity, impartiality and professional principles must be followed in publishing news. In his speech as a special guest, OC Nazmul Alam said that journalists often face risks while collecting information and publishing news. The police will play a cooperative role in ensuring that no journalist is subjected to unnecessary harassment or obstruction. UNO Jannatul Ferdous Happy said that journalists have an important role in portraying the development, problems and possibilities of the area. However, in presenting news, the information must be verified and published neutrally and objectively. He also commented that the development of the area will be more dynamic through mutual cooperation and coordination between the administration and journalists.
Chief guest, MP Maulana Obaidullah Salafi, who joined the video call, said that journalists should work with truth, justice and objectivity, away from misreporting. In addition to presenting the real picture of the area based on facts and evidence, they should stand by the helpless people. He called for a collective response if any journalist is subjected to unfair threats or harassment. At the event, the Journalists' Unity Council said that the organization is not a platform for personal gain.
Nilphamari Press Club President Manjurul Alam Siam announced the debut of the reconstituted committee of the Journalists' Unity Council Jaldhakaar. Finally, Alhaj Kamruzzaman, President of the Journalists' Unity Council Jaldhakaar, called on all members of the organization to remain united and do responsible journalism for truth and justice. He said that one of the goals of the organization will be to work for the welfare of the people of Jaldhakaar by maintaining mutual cooperation, harmony and unity among journalists.
