Importance of tree planting immense in combating adverse effects of climate change, maintaining environmental balance : Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament and Member of Parliament for Netrokona-1 (Kalmakanda-Durgapur) constituency, said that the importance of tree plantation is immense in combating the adverse effects of climate change and maintaining environmental balance.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced the plantation of 250 million trees in the country in the next 5 years. As part of this, the leaders of Kalmakanda Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations planted more than 1200 forest, fruit and medicinal tree saplings on both sides of the Kalmakanda road from Thakurakona on August 1. Two days ago, fascists killed more than fifty saplings by throwing them on the ground in the dead of night. He called on the local administration to find out and bring to justice those who threw or cut down the planted saplings.
He made these remarks to journalists present at the inauguration of a tree plantation program by planting more than a hundred forest, fruit and medicinal tree saplings along the road adjacent to Baboni Bridge in Kalmakanda Sadar Union on Friday afternoon.
Among others present at the event were District Council Administrator Adv Nuruzzaman Nuru, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mun Mun Jahan Liza, Kalmakanda Upazila Executive Officer NM Abdullah Al Mamun, OC of Kalmakanda Police Station Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Saiful Islam, Kalmakanda Upazila BNP President Abul Khair, General Secretary and Chairman of Lengura Union Parishad Md. Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan, Chairman of Kharnai Union Parishad Md. Obaidul Haque, and leaders of affiliated and associate organizations.
