
Illegal shrimp larvae worth Tk 55 Million seized in Coast Guard operation in N'ganj
Illegal shrimp larvae worth approximately 55 million taka were seized in Coast Guard operation in Narayanganj on Monday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haque gave this information on Monday night in a press release.
Based on confidential intelligence, a special operation was conducted on Monday, 28 April 2025, at 10:00 AM by Coast Guard Station Pagla near the Kanchpur Bridge area in Narayanganj district.During the operation, three trucks were searched, and approximately 5.7 million shrimp larvae were seized, with an estimated market value of around 55 million Taka.Subsequently, the seized larvae were released into the Meghna River in the presence of the Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer, and the confiscated trucks along with their drivers were released upon signing a bond.The Bangladesh Coast Guard maintains 24-hour patrols to ensure law and order in the country.As a result, the law and order situation in coastal and riverine areas under the Coast Guard's jurisdiction has significantly improved. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future.
