Human rights training workshop at DU

A two-day training workshop titled “ Master Training of the Trainers on Human Rights – From Theory to Practice ” jointly organized by the Applied Democracy Lab of Dhaka University and the Danish Institute for Human Rights ( DIHR ) concluded at the Applied Democracy Lab on Wednesday . The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy.

The training workshop provided an insight into the basic principles, processes and practical applications of human rights to 28 students from 15 departments of Dhaka University. In addition, emphasis was placed on developing students as skilled human rights defenders and enhancing their capacity to conduct training on human rights in the future.


Prof Mohammad Ainul Islam, Director of Applied Democracy Lab, Dhaka University, and Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Former Vice-Chancellor and Department of Development Studies, Dhaka University, conducted the workshop. Master trainers from Save Youth Bangladesh - Dhaka University Chapter assisted in conducting the training workshop.

At the closing ceremony, Prof Dr. Mohammad Moinul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dhaka University, was the chief guest and Kate Griffiths, Advisor to the Danish Institute for Human Rights ( DIHR ), was present as the special guest.
