A human chain was held protesting the attack on former general secretary of the Kuakata Press Club and Kuakata Correspondent of BanglaVision journalist Zahirul Islam Miron.

The programme was held in front of the freedom fighter complex building on Friday (at 9am. Hundreds of journalists from various electronic and print media working in the throat participated in it.

On February 7 (Tuesday), the miscreants were beaten up and left journalist Zahirul Islam Miron in front of his residence with serious injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka. Journalists strongly condemned the human chain to protest the brutal attack.

The speakers demanded the arrest of the attackers within 24 hours, saying the attack on journalists was hit by media freedom. They warned that if the attackers were not brought under the law, then a more stringent agitation program would be announced.

They also said that if the exemplary punishment of the culprits is not confirmed, the safety of journalists in the country will face extreme threat. Calling the administration to take immediate action, the speakers said that if journalists are oppressed because of the truth, the right to know the information of the people will also be damaged.
