SRB 8 arrests truck driver responsible for killing police, BNP leader in Gazipur!

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested the main accused truck driver Md. Mazharul Islam (25) in the incident in which a police sub-inspector (SI) and a local BNP leader were killed when a speeding truck hit them in Kaliganj, Gazipur.
On the night of October 29, SRB-8 (CPSC, Barisal) and SRB-1 (CPC-3, Gazipur) conducted a joint operation in the Charakhali area of Indurkani Police Station, Pirojpur district and arrested him.
According to the case report, Kaliganj Police Station SI (retd) Md. Mizanur Rahman, PSI (retd) Jabed Omar, Constable Anwar Hossain and Constable Fazle Rabbi were returning to the police station with three accused after finishing their night duty on the night of October 23. At around 2:30 am, while searching two suspicious persons on the Tongi-Ghorashal highway in front of Kaliganj Sramik College, Kaliganj Municipality Ward No. 2 BNP Organizing Secretary Rafiqul Islam Molla (45) was present at the spot and spoke.
Later, at around 3:35 am, a speeding truck heading from Tongi to Ghorashal lost control and hit them. PSI Jabed Omar and Constable Fazle Rabbi were seriously injured. The truck ran over BNP leader Rafiqul Islam Mollah, who died on the spot. When SI Mizanur Rahman tried to stop the truck, the driver dragged him about 500 yards in front of the truck and fled. Later, SI Mizanur Rahman died at 6:47 am while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Constable Anwar Hossain filed a murder case with Kaliganj Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. Following the case, a joint operation was conducted and the main accused truck driver Mazharul Islam was arrested. The arrested accused has been handed over to Indurkani Police Station in Pirojpur for further legal action.
