Human chain in Satkhira protesting false case, death threats against journalist Ariful

A human chain has been held in Satkhira to protest false case and death threats against journalist Ariful. Under the banner of the Journalist Association, the human chain program was held on the road adjacent to Satkhira Press Club at 11 am on Saturday.
The human chain was presided over by Mostafizur Rahman Ujjal, former general secretary of Satkhira Press Club, Maasranga TV and district correspondent of Amader Somay.

The speakers at the Manabandhan said that after the news of extortion against Asashuni Police Station Police Officer SI Shyama Prasad Roy was published, local youth leader Abu Zahid Sohag and former youth leader Sadiq Anwar Chotu repeatedly summoned Ariful Islam, a staff reporter of the national daily Swadhin Sangbad, to explain himself, threatened to arrest him by filing false cases, and threatened to kill him.
Journalist Ariful filed a general diary (No. 419, dated 11/3/25) with Asashuni Police Station seeking redress. Following this incident, a woman named Majeda Khatun filed a false rape case against journalist Ariful in the Satkhira Court. The Satkhira Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal ordered Asashuni Police Station to register an FIR against journalist Ariful without any investigation.
Journalist leaders said, "We demand that the false case against journalist Ariful be withdrawn within the next 48 hours and action be taken against Majeda, the plaintiff in the harassment case, and Abu Zahid Sohag, the alleged supporter.
