A human chain, protest rally and press conference were held demanding the postponement of the biennial ward conference, after more than two hundred members of the Kashimari Union BNP were allegedly removed from the voter list. On Thursday,  Kashimari Union BNP organized a human chain and protest march in front of the Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club. Despite bad weather, several hundred leaders and activists, men and women, took part in the program. Later, a press conference was held in the press club auditorium. At the press conference, deprived BNP member Almogir Hossain read a written statement. Also present were Abdul Gani, Shafiqul Gazi, Monsur Molla, Masud Rana, Shafiqul Molla, Oliur Rahman, Abdul Goffar, Selina Khatun and numerous other union BNP leaders and activists. The press conference alleged that an incomplete voter list had been prepared, excluding the names of more than two hundred long-suffering, active leaders and activists of the Awami League who have faced persecution, because of the Satkhira-4 constituency team leader’s biased decisions, arbitrariness and undemocratic actions. Speakers said speculation and conspiracies have arisen around the ward council. At the intervention of a few hybrid leaders, a controversial draft list was prepared that excluded the genuine sacrificial leaders and activists, creating disappointment and anxiety among ordinary members. They further alleged that complaints had been made to the team leader several times, but he did not take them into consideration. Although an organizational team was formed according to central directives including senior BNP leaders, their opinions were ignored and one-sided decisions are being taken.
