A remarkable example of professionalism and integrity has been set by the Aviation Security (AVSEC) Department deployed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. AVSEC recovered about USD 16,000 (equivalent to about BDT 2 million) that had been lost and returned it to the passenger following due procedures.
With the guiding principle of “Honored Passenger First,” the Aviation Security (AVSEC) Department has been working tirelessly to ensure the highest level of passenger safety at every stage of air operations. AVSEC members continue to perform their duties with professionalism and sincerity to ensure smooth and hassle-free journeys for passengers.
According to AVSEC sources, on Saturday, a passenger bound for Singapore lost a bag at the airport. The passenger later informed the AVSEC authorities of the matter via email and stated that the bag contained USD 16,000.
In the meantime, cleaner Ms. Ruma Akter, who was on duty at the airport, found the bag abandoned and deposited it at the AVSEC control room. Subsequently, AVSEC authorities established contact with the passenger and, after verifying the necessary documents and evidence, safely handed over the bag to the passenger’s nominated representative.
Concerned parties have expressed satisfaction with this humane and responsible action by AVSEC. Such initiatives by Aviation Security in passenger service are expected to further enhance passengers’ confidence in the airport’s security system.
