A violent robbery took place in Kalapara of Patuakhali. Organized bandits tied the hands and feet of the family members and robbed them of cash and gold ornaments.

In addition, a motorcycle of the victim's family was also robbed by the robbers, but the last defense was not made. A member of the dacoit gang with a motorcycle was caught at the Patuakhali toll plaza.

The incident happened late on Monday night at the house of Alauddin Mia, a resident of Salimpur village of Nilganj union of the upazila. About the incident, the owner of that house, Alauddin Mia, said that there were three family members in the house, including his son Mamun and his wife.

Around 3 am, a 13-member band of robbers entered their house. After that a group of 6/7 members entered the room by opening the hasbolt of the door through the gap of the window. Then first, his son Md. Mamun Mia, the owner of Mia Sanitary, a sanitary trader in Kalapara, tied Mia's hands and face. After that, Alauddin Miya who was in another room was also tied in the same condition. Later Mamun's wife Mosa Amena Begum (Chandni) was taken to another room and locked from outside. The robber gang looted 1 lakh 97 thousand cash and more than 10 gold ornaments and five land documents in the house by changing the almirah, wardrobe and bed sheets. He also said that the bandits ransacked the house for about 2 hours and threatened them by saying that we are 13 people in the group, tell us where and what is in the house or else we will cut them to pieces. The remaining members of the Esam Dakat group were standing guard outside the house.

Kalapara Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Mostafizur Rahman said, a member of the bandit group was caught at Patuakhali toll plaza while escaping with the motorcycle of the victim's family. Currently, the dacoit member is in the custody of Patuakhali police station. Further legal action will be taken.
