Headless, half-melted body recovered from Padma River

Police have recovered the headless, half-melted body of a young man named Jihad Sardar (30) from the Padma River in the Antar More area of Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari. On Sunday at around 10 am.
Goalanda Ghat Police recovered the headless body from the river in the Antar More area of Chhota Bhakla Union of the upazila. Jihad Sardar is the son of Shaheed Sardar of Charbarat village. Jihad used to work at a dockyard in Dhaka Narayanganj. They had two brothers and two sisters in the family.
It is learnt that on Sunday morning, local people saw a headless body floating in the water on the banks of the Padma River in the Charbarat area of Antar More of Chhota Union of the upazila and informed the Goalando Ghat police station. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered the body. Meanwhile, local people and police are searching for the whereabouts of the head in the river.
Jihad's younger sister Samantha Akhter said, Jihad came home from Dhaka on Thursday, April 24, at noon. In the afternoon, Jihad went out on his personal work and when he did not come home late at night, when they called him, Jihad said, "I will come in a while." Later, when Jihad did not return home after 12 midnight on Thursday, they called his phone and found that his phone was switched off. The next afternoon, a missing person's report was filed by the family at Goaland Ghat Police Station. After a lot of searching, when Jihad could not be found, on Sunday morning, my brother was found floating in the water of the Antar More area, headless and half-melted. Later, my mother went and identified him by looking at the pants he was wearing. She also said, "My brother had no enemies, I don't know who killed my brother like this, we want the accused Goalando nged."
Goalando Ghat Police Station OC Mohammad Rakibul Islam said, after receiving information about a headless body floating in the water in the Antar More area, a team of Goalanda Ghat Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy after conducting a post-mortem report. He added that work is underway to identify whether the body is that of a jihadist and that police are working on the ground to bring those involved in the incident under the law.
