Hathazari Municipality election was not held for the last 13 years.
Authorities said the election was not held due to the complexity of the border.
Hathazari Municipality was established in the 2011. The government declared the municipality by abolishing the union council of the upazila. The municipality is consists of 9 wards of the Sadar Union. Although these years have passed, the election has not yet been announced.
At present, political persons, UNO and Assistant Commissioner (Land) served as the administrator of the municipality.
Development projects are underway in various wards under the leadership of the Municipal Administrator. Israt Jahan Panna took over as the first municipal administrator after the formation of the municipality.
Talking to people of different classes of Hathazari municipality, they said that the municipality election has not been held in the last 13 years. We want an elected representative.
