Staff Correspondent
The government has decided measures against 64 police officers for their alleged role in rigging the 2018 general elections while serving as superintendents in all the districts of the country.
The government will either send the then police superintendents of all the 64 districts of the country into forced retirement or make them officers on special duty (OSDs), said sports adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan in a facebook post on Friday evening.
On Thursday, Mokhles-ur-Rahman, senior secretary at the Public Administration Ministry, told reporters officials serving less than 25 years in office will be made OSD and those serving longer will be forced to retire.
Over the past week, the government has sent 22 deputy commissioners into forced retirement and made 33 deputy commissioners OSDs for serving during the 2014 and 2018 general elections. The election results were greatly manipulated by the incumbent Awami League government.
