Four gamblers arrested in Pirgachha

Pirgachha police have arrested 4 gamblers in a raid in Pirgachha, Rangpur from Durgacharan area of Itakumari union of the upazila on Tuesday night.
The arrested persons are Momin Mia (40), son of Abdus Samad Mia of Sharif Sundar (Uttarpara) area of the upazila, Helal Uddin (34), son of Omar Ali of Durgacharan area, Shahidul Islam, son of Hasen Ali, and Fazlu Hossain (35), son of Saldar Hossain.
Confirming the arrest, Pirgachha Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nahid Hossain said, on April 16, based on a secret tip-off, a smart police team led by SI Shafiqul Islam conducted a raid and arrested 4 gamblers from Durgacharan area of Itakumari Union of the upazila at night and handed them over to the learned court this morning.
A case has been filed under the Gambling Act in this regard at Pirgachha Police Station. Case No.-24, G.R.-108/25, Tang- 16/04/2025, also this month, 10 gamblers were handed over to the court in four separate cases by conducting raids in Mahishmuri, Taluk Ishad and Itakumari areas of the upazila.
It is learnt that legal action is under process against those who fled during the gambling raid. Such raids are continuing on the part of Pirgachha Police Station.
