Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin will lead Bangladesh delegation at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia from October 22-23.

The foreign secretary will depart for Russia tonight, a senior official of the ministry told BSS this morning.

On the sideline of the Summit, the Bangladesh Foreign Secretary is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and other invited leaders.

Jashim Uddin is likely to return to Bangladesh on October 25.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.

This year‘s summit, themed "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security," will provide a platform for leaders to discuss critical global issues and assess the progress of BRICS initiatives.

It will also explore potential areas for future collaboration among the bloc's member states.
